Get to Know KITE
西陣季邸の歴史
－受け継がれる空間と時間－
この場所の不動産登記が確認できるのは大正元年。
しかし、建物の改修に携わった大工によれば、柱の太さや壁の素材から見ても、
さらに古い時代に建てられた可能性があるとのこと。
長い年月を経て、静かにこの地に佇んできた建物です。
もともとは呉服屋として営まれていた家です。
先代・康市は能登から京都へ渡り、丁稚奉公から呉服業を立ち上げました。
「能州紬」の扁額が今も残っており、当時の面影を伝えています。
現在は呉服屋としての営業は行っていませんが、この建物には今でも独自の魅力と存在感があります。
そこで、この空間をより多くの方に体験してもらえる形として、宿泊施設として活用することにしました。
ただ泊まるだけでなく、この家に流れる時間や空気、西陣という土地の文化を感じてもらえる場になればと考えています。
The Story of
Nishijin Kite
－A Space Where Time Resides－
The earliest official record of this house appears in the first year of the Taisho era.
Yet, craftsmen who have worked on its restoration whisper of an even older origin —
evident in the heft of its beams, the texture of its walls.
This is a house that has stood quietly,
witnessing the flow of seasons for over a century, perhaps more.
Once, it was a kimono shop —
founded by my grandfather, Kōichi,
who journeyed from Noto to Kyoto with nothing but spirit and hope,
rising from an apprentice to a merchant of fine silks.
Even now, the wooden plaque reading “Nōshū Tsumugi” hangs proudly,
echoing a time when fabrics carried the dreams of a generation.
As a child, I was drawn to this house.
The crimson maple in the garden,
the cool air of the stone-paved corridor,
the storehouse in the back with its earthen scent —
all filled me with a sense of stillness,
a feeling that this place was somehow sacred.
Though the kimono business is no longer active,
the soul of this house remains.
It breathes, it listens, it remembers.
And so, I have chosen to open its doors once again —
not as a store, but as a place to stay.
Not simply to rest,
but to dwell in the rhythm of this home,
to feel the quiet pulse of Nishijin,
and to be wrapped, however briefly,
in the timeless grace of this space.
